The Yorubas in the treasure of Nigeria come with unique identity, arts, culture and belief. These Egba descendants influence a great deal in the diaspora, and hold flexible rich cultural traits to foster the Egba and/or Yoruba cultures together and connect as people of Yoruba origin in North America. The 38th Bi-Annual Egba National Conference did not happen as a slogan but as an unforgettable and sensational event that followed the seamless transition from the punctilio of conference procedures to the relaxed aura of a gala dinner.

The people of Egbaland from Nigeria, West Africa are well known as aficionados of structured order for others to emulate. According to the Egba National Anthem as composed by Cannon Josiah Jesse Ransome-Kuti (The popular Afro-music pioneer’s; Fela Anikulapo Ransome-Kuti’s grandfather) on June 27, 1922.
“Such is the place where I was brought up the land of freedom. I will make Abeokuta my glory I will stand tall on Olumo Rock Rejoice in the name of Egba I, a child of Lisabi.
Chorus: “Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice on Olumo Rock, Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice atop the Rock of Olumo” [I am not conversant with the rest, laughing ….]

Musical entertainment orchestrated by Jimi Alasela & his melody was the pinnacle of the gala night that would for long remain fixed in the mind of the guests, friends and members – an ambience of an environment including the dining experience, in a league of its own was a perfect segue for an indelible enjoyment.

An occasion that remains etched keepsake in the memories of people, resonated on a deep level with Association’s theme long after the curtain was drawn.
